As part of New London's Paint the Town initiative, Jonas Sanchez was invited to install a mural on Water St.
Jonas pitched designs to David Spoon the building's owner - an abstraction of jazz greats John Coltrane and Eric Dolphy.
Friend and fellow New London resident and artist Denny Rivera helped Jonas install the mural.
David Spoon was thorough in preparing the surface, base-coating it with a tinted sealer to insure the mural's longevity.
Rollers and large brushes were used to make large raw strokes in favor of clean lines. Like jazz, expression and emotion was the goal.
Despite having two doors in the middle of the second and third floors, the mural design paid them no mind.

David was very happy with the result and even commissioned local artists to paint several smaller jazz paintings on panels that were then installed onto the side of the adjacent building.
